Kenya and Denmark reaffirming strong partnership

August 13, 2018, Centre for Biosecurity and Biopreparedness (CBB) and Kenyan partners conducted a panel debate as part of the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC) Meetings of Experts in Geneva, Switzerland.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the challenges and best practices in implementing biosecurity measures, using the experiences from the Danish-Kenyan Biosecurity Partnership as a case. The panel debate sparked an interesting discussion amongst international stakeholders facing similar challenges, hopefully, making a small contribution to strengthening BTWC implementation in and beyond Kenya.

The event was attended by a range of international stakeholders, including the deputy Head of Mission from the Permanent Mission of Kenya to the United Nations in Geneva, the latter expressing full support to the partnership. International stakeholders recognised the challenges experienced and expressed an interest in following the future endeavors of the partnership.

As the Danish national authority on biosecurity, CBB is working with the Government of Kenya to promote a biosecurity system in Kenya in accordance with the BTWC.
